CATCON 7

1. What is CATCON?

CATCON is the name of a contest for Computer Assisted Teaching organized by the ISPRS Commission VI. The seventh CATCON (CATCON 7) is planned to be organized at the XXIII ISPRS Congress, Prague, Czech Republic, 12th July – 19th July 2016. The main objective of the contest is to promote the development and dissemination of effective, educational and user-friendly

  • multimedia tutorials
  • simulations and virtual environments
  • information packages or data sets
  • application software

designed and used specifically for computer assisted teaching in photogrammetry, remote sensing or spatial information science.

2. Who can nominate?

Anyone who will register for the ISPRS Congress has the right to nominate software or a data set to the contest. In general, the tutorial, software or data set is preferred to be non-commercial and provided to users without license charges or other fees for not-for-profit use. Since many ISPRS attendees have been interested in this contest at five previous Congresses and one midterm Symposium, this is a very good opportunity to show the effectiveness and utility of your software or data set to the international community of ISPRS.

3. What is the procedure?

Entry to the contest is free of charge. Registered entries to the contest will be allowed five minutes to present their software or data set, followed by approximately two hours for demonstrations to attendees. Contestants are required to provide their own notebook computer to demonstrate the software or data set. The participants of the contest will vote for the best software. Considering the result of the voting, the CATCON jury will select the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.

Enrolment for CATCON 7 is now available on the Prague Congress online registration system. Please register at http://www.conftool.pro/isprs2016/ and follow the steps for submission of a conference contribution. Select CATCON as submission type and complete the form adding your details.
